The 1957 Chevy Bel Air was one of the first paintings of a car that I completed. I really like the shape of this car and thought that the baby blue colour reflected the colours used on automobiles at the time. It also complements the darkness of the grillwork, tires and trim on the Bel Air.

The 1957 Chevy Bel Air is a classic car in all sense of the word "classic." I love its shape, with the great curves as well as the contrasting sharp fins and back end. It was a fun challenge to paint. I wanted the detail of the front grill to be focus, so I kept the car colour soft and the background very simple. The tires were the most challenging part, because I had to really work to ensure that the circles looked symmetric and realistic.
