I find the softness of this artwork soothing. Because of the simplicity of the composition, I added a frame in the background to draw the viewer's eye toward the birds while also making the space a little more complex. I love that these birds have an almost comical head. The painting would look wonderful in a neutral setting, adding a slight pop of colour.

When I chose to paint these birds, my energy levels were quite low and I wanted something that wasn't too much of a challenge. I discovered that sometimes, painting simple things can be much more difficult, at least for me, because it is more difficult to create a three dimensional image on a paper. I do like the softness and simplicity of this artwork, particularly when I am craving calmness.
