I wanted to covey the detail in the animal's fur in this artwork, and also to draw focus to the eyes of the fox. I painted the background a neutral colour so that the fox would stand out.

There is a fox that lives in the downtown area of my city, very near to me. I see it often when I go for my walks around the neighbourhood. So when a photographer friend of mine offered to allow me to paint from one of his photos of this animal, I jumped at the opportunity. I like the colours of the fox, especially the ears.
